DAY 1: Immerse yourself in the culture.

Experience the influence and history of seven different colonial powers in both the towns of Christiansted and Frederiksted. Visit the forts in town or learn of the sugar cane days at the Estate Whim Plantation Museum. Take a tour of the world-famous Cruzan Rum Distillery and try some of the island’s exceptionally smooth rum! Be sure to make a stop at a local eatery to sample kallaloo, stewed mutton and johnnycakes.

DAY 2: Dive the deep blue sea.

St. Croix offers some of the best scuba sites in the Caribbean. Experience the numerous wrecks, reefs and wall dives this island has to offer. Certified professional dive masters will lead you through the waters to discover turtles, sea horses and coral reefs teeming with life. Not a scuba diver? Schedule a “resort course” with one of the local dive operators and you will be diving after a few brief lessons.

DAY 3: Sit back and relax.

Catch a sailboat out to Buck Island Reef National Monument. This 176-acre island is the perfect sanctuary for a snorkel or picnic. Take a calm kayaking tour of the Salt River Bay National Park & Ecological Preserve. Or relax on one of St. Croix’s many gorgeous beaches.

DAY 4: Encounter nature at its best.

Experienced hiking guides lead you along canopied trails stopping momentarily to sample local fruit, discuss the medicinal value of shrubbery and chat about the history of the area. If you prefer to ride, go on horseback through the rainforest or take a jeep tour to the amazing Annaly Bay tidal pool.

DAY 5: Hunt for treasure.

Stroll the quaint shopping districts along the water’s edge to discover original artwork, handmade jewelry, mahogany pieces and other island-made souvenirs.

DAY 1: - Be one with nature.

With two-thirds of the entire island preserved as National Park, this is where you can connect with nature. Stop by the Park Service office to learn about programs, including bird-watching tours and cultural presentations.

DAY 2: Surround yourself in blue.

Take a day sail to surrounding islands or go windsurfing. Visit Trunk Bay and snorkel its famous underwater trail or just enjoy the sun, sand and sea at Cinnamon Bay.

DAY 3: Let the history move you.

Tour the Annaberg Sugar Mill ruins for a perspective on plantation living when “sugar was king.” Caldrons, a cook house, dungeon and slave quarters are on display at the island’s best preserved plantation. Quaint churches in Cruz Bay and Coral Bay, St. John’s two towns, reveal the importance of religion centuries ago.

DAY 4: Shop in style.

St. John has plenty of opportunities for shopping. Stroll through the quaint and colorful shops of Mongoose Junction and Wharfside Village in Cruz Bay to find hand-painted fabrics, original art, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces and other specialty gifts.

DAY 5: Take a hike.

With 22 trails to choose from, this is a hiker’s paradise! Start with the Reef Bay Trail, where you can find Indian petroglyphs carved by the island’s first inhabitants.

DAY 1: Beach it

Spend the day at famed Magens Bay, which is consistently named one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Snorkel or snuba at Coki Point on the east end or windsurf at Morning Star Beach on the island’s south side. Nothing tops a day at the beach like watching the sunset from Paradise Point.

DAY 2: Unleash your inner daredevil.

Ride an underwater scooter, glide across the water while kiteboarding or swim with the Caribbean’s only sea lions.

DAY 3: Move inland.

Charlotte Amalie is a historic town full of sights and sounds. Take a walking tour past Emancipation Garden to Fort Christian and the St. Thomas Synagogue. Then take a ride up to Mountain Top and see the island from its highest point.

DAY 4: Shop 'til you drop.

As one of the biggest shopping destinations in the Caribbean, you can partake of some duty-free fun at one of the island’s many shopping complexes. Head downtown to historic Main Street, where you can purchase everything from local art to jewelry.

DAY 5: Explore the depths.

Spend a few hours at Coral World sea trekking, petting sharks or swimming with the sea lions. The snorkeling at the adjacent Coki Beach is fantastic!
